the first amendment and all those wacko judges who put up the ten commandments?

LOL. Doesn't affect my life in the least. Does it affect yours? I would hardly consider that evidence of a state sponsored religion. You are aware that the 10 Commandments are on the wall of the headquarters of the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court is overthrowing the constitution? :D

Hey Joe. I'm sorry about the mistakenly deleted post. I tried to see if i could get it back, but it's a no-go. It wasn't censorship (i'm quite strongly against that), just kinkdxm's careless mistake. Again, i apologize.

That's cool. I didn't even realize my post was deleted. I thought what kinkdxm was saying that he wrote a long reply to me, but it got deleted by mistake. Now I understand what he was talking about. No problem. And he did repost my post anyway.

Don't people choose to smoke, kinkdxm? Should smoking be banned?

Do people choose to be beheaded by funamentalist lunatics? If so, why do the fundamentalist lunatics tie up these people first?

Someone asked Miller about the status of his BATMAN VERSUS AL-QAEDA project during his appearance at the panel for "The Spirit" at CCI:San Diego this past weekend:
A DC project of Miller's that some may have heard of goes by the name of "Holy Terror, Batman." The story has Batman fighting real world terrorists. When asked the status, Miller said he is 130 pages into it, and he needs 60-70 pages more. However, with all of the film work he has in front of him, he's not sure when it will be done.

And this is what he said almost EXACTLY ONE YEAR AGO, in an interview shortly before the release of ALL-STAR BATMAN:

NRAMA: Lastly, is this the only Batman for the foreseeable future? At one point, you were working on a Batman/terrorist story…

FM: I’m 120 pages into the inks on that, and am working on it concurrently. That will probably be a single piece, somewhere around 150-200 pages long.

Miller has been quoted on the "120 pages completed" total in a number of interviews over the last year.

Ten pages in a year, with other, more lucrative work ahead of him, outside of comics??? Don't count on seeing this comic any time soon.

FRANK MILLER VERSUS AL QAEDA

FRANK MILLER VERSUS AL QAEDA
09.06.06
By Devin Faraci
Contributing sources: Comic Book Resources

Last year I had dinner with Frank Miller. It was an interesting experience, and will one day make for a good page or two in my memoirs. Frank was funny, and nice, and vocal about being more hawkish than Donald Rumsfeld. He also threatened to fight me when I said I saw the influence of Full House on Sin City, but I think he was kidding. At any rate, I am sure I could take him.

Miller’s political views will eventually make a huge splash whenever he finishes his Holy Terror, Batman!, where Batman fights Osama bin Laden*, but for those of us who don’t want to wait to see just where this guy stands, he’ll be reading an essay on NPR’s Morning Edition on 9/11, explaining how the attacks on the US changed his political views on patriotism.

Says Miller: “I draw and write comic books. One thing my job involves is making up bad guys. Imagining human villainy in all its forms. Now the real thing had showed up. The real thing murdered my neighbors. In my city. In my country.” Miller adds, “Patriotism, I now believe, isn’t some sentimental, old, conceit. It’s self-preservation. I believe patriotism is central to a nation’s survival.”

Not wildly surprising from the guy who fetishizes a fascist society in 300, but still interesting, especially in the generally leftist-leaning world of comic books and movies. I wonder whether Miller and Robert Rodriguez have political arguments. Actually, I wonder if Rodriguez reads the newspaper.

For those unable (or unwilling) to catch Miller’s essay on NPR, the recording and a text copy will be available at www.npr.org/thisibelieve this Monday.

Personally, I think it’s great that Miller is being politically outspoken, and I wish his Batman graphic novel would get finished already. I watched The US vs John Lennon last night and it made me realize that our artists are not speaking out about the world around them anymore, that hardly anyone is using their art to directly engage the issues of terrorism and the war in Iraq – hell, when Green Day is one of the few groups doing so you know that you’re in trouble. While I don’t agree with Miller’s views – and the things that he said at dinner, while funny, were slightly troubling to me – I agree fully in his right to say them.

I was really excited about Holy Terror Batman! when it was first announced years ago....Frank was really fired up and his two page contribution to the 9/11 book was hardcore and I could'nt wait to see him do the Batman vs Al-Qaeda story.....did'nt hear anything about it after a while....then Frank mentions he's about 3/4 done with the book and it's gonna feature some of the best art he's ever done.....and judging from the preview art I've glimpsed,it does indeed look stunning.....

However Progress on the book seems to have come to a halt,He would mention in interviews that he had 120 pages done and months later in other interviews, when quizzed about his progress....he mentions the same thing.......

Now with him filming the Spirit, slated for a 2008 release.......I don't see the book being finished anytime soon.......Its still on the top of my most anticipated comics list though.....and I hope it doesn't wind up being one of Frank's Unpublished works since Frank Has already done more then half the book...

http://movies.ign.com/articles/745/745674p1.html

In the hustle and bustle of going to Q&A's to shill for 300 and The Spirit, doing endless DVD commentaries and attending fake award shows, Miller has apparently found the time in the last 4-plus months to get back in the saddle (somewhat) and do 20 pages of BATMAN VERSUS AL-QAEDA.

Exclusive: Frank Miller Readies Batman Vs. Osama and Sin City 2
Both projects nearly ready to go.
by Scott Collura

November 13, 2006 - Comics legend Frank Miller was in New York today to participate in a Q&A for Warner Bros.' upcoming 300, an adaptation of his Dark Horse comic book (click here to read more about that project). IGN Movies caught up with Miller — ran down the hallway with him, actually, as he exited the event — to briefly discuss a couple of his upcoming projects.

The writer-artist informed us that he has not quite finished work on his much-anticipated Batman Vs. Osama bin Laden graphic novel, which was first announced almost a year ago. The bat-light at the end of the tunnel can now be seen for the project, however.

"I've got about 50 pages left to draw," says Miller. "It's a 200-page book, and mostly I've been tied up with the movie stuff which is much more deadline sensitive. But when I get a break, I jump back in on it."

Miller explains that even though the project is being completed in fits and starts, it won't affect the artwork of the book "because the story determines the look more than the breaks factor."

As to whether or not the story will take place in the "real world," Miller responds that, "It's going to be based in Gotham City. It'll be Batman versus al Qaeda." So will Bats go mano a mano against Osama himself? "Oh, I can't say…" teases the author.

Meanwhile, on the movie front Miller has a couple of other projects on the table beyond 300.

"We might be shooting [Sin City 2] as soon as this spring. Either that or The Spirit is my next project," he says, while adding that he will co-direct the Sin City sequel with Robert Rodriguez as he did the first film.

He also says that rumors implying that the filmmakers are waiting for a certain high-profile actress' schedule (Angelina Jolie's, perhaps?) to clear up before getting started are greatly exaggerated.

"No, it's just that there's a million puzzle pieces that need to be put in place," he laughs. "Mostly it's that [Robert] needs to finish Grindhouse right now. And then we're gonna get rocking. It'll be A Dame to Kill For and several short stories. The script is ready, so we're up and running."
